Child/Adolescent, Individual, and Couples Therapy Services
Katie is dedicated to creating an inviting and safe environment for all people of all backgrounds. Her emphasis is supporting youth and young adults who experience social, emotional, and/or behavioral difficulties. These struggles might include anxiety, depression, traumatic experiences, and difficult life changes, to name a few. Katie also provides support for parents who desire to try new approaches to support their children. Further, Katie is dedicated to supporting couples as they search for improved patterns of interaction, healing, and deeper connection with each other. Creating a warm and caring space is a priority for Katie so that she can be an ally in each client’s progress toward change.
When Katie’s not at work, she is often enjoying the Carolina outdoors with her husband (Brian), their daughters (Addison & Posey), and their fur-child (Winnie). Whether it’s hiking, camping, or skiing, Katie’s into it!
Katie’s approach is eclectic, though she focuses on exploring motivations behind human behavior, rather than solely on the problem itself in order to promote growth. By means of active listening and reflective questioning, she is able to accomplish this and better understand her client. Then, she and her client create a plan in partnership to help them effectively reach their goals.
Therapeutic approaches used in session: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Collaborative Problem Solving, Brainspotting, Attachment theory, PACE skills for parents, Social Thinking, Emotionally Focused Therapy (and adaptations)
