Therapy Frequently Asked Questions
- How long are sessions?
The first time we meet, the session will be 75 minutes so that we can be sure to have time to get to know one another and answer any questions you may have. Subsequent sessions are 50 minutes long, unless we schedule otherwise. - What frequency do you recommend?
To begin, I recommend that we meet either weekly or every other week. This allows us to get to know each other well and to build trust. From there, we will decide what works best, based on your therapy goals as well as your availability. - How do you pronounce your last name?
HYTS or HEIGHTS - Do you take insurance?
I am private pay only, but will provide Superbills upon request should you desire to seek reimbursement through your insurance for out of network providers. - How long will I need therapy?
Your personal therapy goals will drive this! I have some clients reach their goals within 6-12 weeks, while others are longer term. It totally depends, and there is no right or wrong length of time - Do I have to come with something specific to talk about or can I talk about whatever is on my mind?
Both! My tendency is to ensure that you are reaching your goals; however, I always check in regarding *anything* that might be on your mind to discuss that day. - How will I know if I’m making progress?
We will check in about this periodically. Typically, we will have identified “indicators of success, ” so we will touch base every once in a while to see about the progress you’ve made towards those indicators. Additionally, many of my clients FEEL the progress. They know that they are living a freer and more connected life. Lastly, we celebrate – I love celebrating milestones, so we will always be calling attention to moments when milestones are reached.
